Second Museums Gala will celebrate Juleps, Jockeys and Jazz on September 20

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County and the Hopkinsville History Foundation are excited to announce their second annual Museum Gala, set to take place in September.

The theme for this year’s gala—which is set to take place September 20—is Juleps, Jockeys and Jazz. It’s inspired by the 100th anniversary of a Christian County horse winning the Kentucky Derby, and the gala will celebrate the history of thoroughbred farms, horse races and the 1920’s in Hopkinsville and Christian County.

The gala acts as a fundraising event that supports the museum and its mission to share stories of the community, using inclusive dialogue about local history.

This year, the museum staff have selected nine artifacts that local artists can gain inspiration from to create a piece of artwork that will then go up for auction during the gala. If you’re looking to make a piece and put it up for auction, make sure you check out the guidelines on the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County Facebook page.

All nine artifacts are currently on display at the museum.  Tickets for the gala can be purchased at the museum or online, and for more information, give them a call at 270-887-4270.
