City of Madisonville receives grant for waterline project

The City of Madisonville has been awarded a grant from the Delta Regional Authority to support a water infrastructure expansion project.

According to the Pennyrile Area Development District, the $1.3 million grant will go toward the installation of a new public waterline that will serve two new developments, a regional training center and a power generation plant. Those two developments reportedly represent $180 million private investments.

The funds were awarded through the authority’s Community Infrastructure Fund Program which supports projects concerning public infrastructure, transportation and flood controls. PeADD Executive Director Jason Vincent says the waterline project will have a long-term positive impact on Madisonville’s economy and community.
