Hopkins County officials were joined by Governor Andy Beshear to break ground on E. Hofmann Packaging’s new production facility on Tuesday.
E. Hofmann Packaging is a Canadian-based company that was established in 1984. The manufacturer produces plastic containers, lids and buckets. The facility coming to Hopkins County will be the company’s first U.S. location. The facility comes with a $43 million investment and is set to create at least 164 jobs.
Before shovels turned the soil, Beshear and local leaders talked about the significance of the development. Beshear says he is proud that E. Hofmann Plastics chose Kentucky for its first U.S. location and looks forward to expanding the state’s partnership with the manufacturer.
As other industries also work toward establishing Kentucky facilities, Beshear emphasized the importance of career and technical education to ensure that residents are able to benefit from the jobs that companies like E. Hofmann Plastics are bringing to the state.
Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton called it an honor to celebrate the manufacturer’s investment and said the community is prepared to support the establishment and operation of the upcoming facility.
Hopkins County Judge Executive Jack Whitfield was also honored that E. Hofmann Plastics chose to come to Madisonville. While parts of Hopkins County are still recovering after the 2021 tornado, Whitfield says the new facility is a sign of progress and hope for the community.
E. Hofmann Plastics President Paul Kalia says the new facility will be the company’s largest project yet and appreciates all the support they have received so far. The 100,000-square-foot facility is set to be operational in 2026.
