The beginning of the school year is drawing near for students in Montgomery County and the Clarksville Police Department is asking the community to do their part in ensuring students are able to safely travel to and from school.
On Wednesday, August 6, class resumes at Clarksville-Montgomery County public schools. The police department shared that many students walk or ride a bicycle to school and reminds drivers to remain alert, follow speed limits and be aware of school zones.
When entering school zones, drivers are advised to slow down, pay attention, avoid distractions and follow the directions of school crossing guards and officers.
The department is also reminding drivers to stop for school buses. All traffic must stop when a school bus is stopped and has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. This protocol applies to all roadways.
