Members of the Hopkinsville Art Guild encouraged children to get in touch with their creative side at Thursday’s Rotary Art Camp.
The Art Guild is a nonprofit organization that promotes visual arts, hosts workshops and supports local artists. The art camp was made possible by a donation of $2,500 from the Hopkinsville Rotary Club.
With the grant, guild member Anita Cummins says they hosted the free camp for 24 children where they each made four different projects: paintings, oil pastel pieces, junk journals and bohemian tassels.
Cummins taught the junk journal workshops and says she didn’t give too many instructions; she provided the kids with a variety of materials and encouraged them to have fun while designing their journals.
The camp was a chance for kiddos to explore different types of art and Cummins says it was great seeing their creative ideas take shape.
