Fourth Fest, Praise in the Park draws record-breaking audience

Madisonville’s three-day music festival, Fourth Fest and Praise in the Park drew over 32,000 people this year setting a new attendance record.

The festival took over Madisonville City Park from July 4 to July 6 and included a lineup of 10 artists and a fireworks show. The festival included attendees that traveled from across Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and at least nine other states. The final day of the festival alone drew over 14,000 attendees which is the largest single-day turnout.

Local hotels, restaurants and retailers experienced an increase in business and foot traffic data also confirmed that the festival resulted in one of Madisonville’s highest tourism influxes in recent history.

In a news release, Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton calls the event a shining example of what happens when a city and its partners dream big and execute together, and says this year’s festival exceeded every expectation. Tricia Noel the executive director of the Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission says events like the festival show how impactful live entertainment can be for the local economy.
