Public Library Director shares renovation updates

Renovation work continues at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, and Executive Director Tiffany Luna provided a construction update at Tuesday’s Hopkinsville Rotary Club meeting.

The work began last year, and Luna shared that the renovations to the second floor are almost complete. Once finished, the second floor will be home to youth services, and adult services will move to the first floor. Luna says the second floor will include an area just for teenagers, updated restrooms and a redesigned children’s event space.

The renovations also serve to make the library more compliant with the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The renovated restrooms are set to be more accessible to those with mobility issues and include diaper changing tables. Luna says the elevator was also expanded and now has brighter lighting inside.

Once the second-floor renovations are complete, Luna says they hope to adjust the first floor’s layout to better accommodate adult services.

The renovations are set to be completed in August. While work continues, the library is open during its normal hours. The library hosts a wide variety of programs for adults and children. To stay up to date, visit hccpl.org.
