Christian County baseball placed on 1-year probation

The Christian County High School baseball program has been placed on a one-year probation after the school self-reported a violation to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

According to a news release sent out by the Christian County Public Schools on Monday, the infraction occurred during the most recent KHSAA designated “dead period”, which took place June 25-July 9.

Although the release does not indicate what the infraction was, it does indicate that the dead period is a time when student-athletes are prohibited from using school facilities for athletic purposes, and coaches are not allowed to have any contact with their athletes. This includes restrictions on practices, workouts, training sessions, and team meetings.

The probation is intended to ensure future compliance with the KHSAA policies and does not impact the team’s eligibility for postseason play.

The release also indicates that the school is cooperating fully with the KHSAA as part of the review process.

According to the KHSAA’s Bylaw 27, schools on probation may engage in a regular schedule, sanctioned events, and postseason play provided they have taken steps to alleviate the problem that placed them on probation and will not reoccur. Additionally, schools on probation may be restricted to limits on scrimmages, regular season contests, and other activities.
