The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating after a woman was assaulted with a baseball bat on South O’Neal Avenue early Monday morning.
According to the incident report, the female victim was trapped in a residence on South O’Neal and not allowed to leave by the suspect—whose name is redacted on the report. The suspect reportedly struck the victim with a baseball bat in the ribs, and choked the victim, severely restricting blood flow and her ability to breathe.
The report states the victim also had injuries to her hands and arms.
The incident is being investigated as second-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.
