PeADD approves 2025-26 fiscal year budget

The Pennyrile Area Development District Board of Directors approved the 2025-26 fiscal year budget and was presented with agency spending plans at Monday’s meeting.

Amy Frogue, the director of Community and Economic Development, says her department will continue to support ongoing construction projects, industrial site readiness, workforce readiness and remain aware of grant opportunities. Frogue says the department also plans to continue focusing on disaster resiliency planning following the recent severe weather events.

PeADD is also implementing the Emergency Management Drone Program. For the program, Frogue says they secured funding to provide each emergency management office in the district with drones to support search and rescue efforts.

Turning toward the Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living, Director Jill Collins announced that the agency is set to be renamed to The Department for Health and Family Services following program expansions.

Chief Financial Officer Alisha Sutton presented the budget for the upcoming fiscal year which was approved by the board. The budget has a projected revenue of $37.3 million which is over a $5 million increase in comparison to prior budget.

The expected expenditures total to $35.5 million which is over a $4 million increase from the prior budget.

The board also approved new PeADD officer appointments. Todd County Judge Executive Todd Mansfield will serve as the chair; Caldwell County Judge Executive Kota Young will serve as the vice chair; Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton will serve as the secretary and Lee Wilson of Lyon County will serve as the treasurer. The officers will serve two-year terms.
