The Rize Up Kings Hoptown Eighth Grade boys basketball team claimed the title at the elite Reebok Midwest Summer Championships Sunday in Cape Giradeau, Missouri.
The team, made up of players who will be freshmen this fall, is coached by Theo Greenwade.
Members of the team include Landon Henson, Justin Price, TJ McNeal, Danterell Edwards, Lequinten Greenwade, Kamron Ivory, Dalyn George, Quin Quarles, Antonio Shemwell, Sean McNeal, and Kenneth Tre Thomas.
The team played against teams from Arkansas and Chicago to start the tournament but Rise Up Kings went undefeated Sunday beating teams from St. Louis and Kentucky to win their ninth overall championship.
Over the last two and a half years, the Rise Up Kings have either won or finished runner-up in 20 tournaments with more than 150 wins in that span.
