Former Hopkinsville High School basketball player Jamarion Sharp is on the Dallas Mavericks’ summer league roster.
The 7-foot-5 center was signed by the Mavs last summer and played in the NBA’s G-League with the Texas Legends after being released by the Mavericks in October. In last year’s summer league with the Mavs, Sharp averaged 2.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game in five appearances.
Sharp signed with John A. Logan Junior College out of high school. He went on to play two seasons at Western Kentucky and one at Ole Miss. His career averages were 6.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks while shooting 66.4 percent from the field in 95 games.
Dallas will take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night in Las Vegas. All eyes will be on No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg in his first action in a Mavericks uniform.
Houston also is playing in the Las Vegas Summer League. The Rockets include former Kentucky star Reed Sheppard, who will take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.
