KSP release initial findings in investigation of Murray officer-involved shooting

Following an investigation, Kentucky State Police have released their findings concerning the officer-involved shooting that happened on June 16 in Murray. 

According to a news release, initial findings detail that the Murray Police Department responded to a residence on Brooklyn Drive at 11:45 p.m. on June 16 after receiving a 911 call that 23-year-old Eric Saxton had a weapon and was acting erratically. Upon arrival, Saxton allegedly charged at officers.

That’s when Officer Charles “Eddie” McGuire fired has agency-issued weapon, striking Saxton in the leg. Saxton was transported to an out-of-state hospital, where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officer McGuire has been with the Murray Police Department for one year, but has a career spanning 22-years in law enforcement. 

These preliminary findings are subject to change as KSP Post 1 investigators continue this ongoing investigation.
