Hoppers earn walk-off win over Henderson Flash

Dominick Bello drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning and the host Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Henderson Flash 6-5 Tuesday night at Christian County High School.

The Hoppers trailed 5-3 entering the bottom of the ninth but Myles Denton led off with a walk and went to second on a single by Bruce Wyche. Owen Hutcheson doubled to score Denton and cut the lead to 5-4. After a strikeout, Wyche scored on a passed ball to tie the game at 5 and Hutcheson moved to third on the play.

Bello, who was pinch hitting, flew out to right field allowing Hutcheson to score the winning run.

Wyche finished 3-for-5 on the night for the Hoppers. Hutcheson went 2-for-5 and Evan Cardwell also had a pair of hits.

Hoptown led 3-0 after four innings, but the Flash responded with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 5-3 advantage.

Owen Boswell was credited for the win.

The Hoppers improved to 9-16 on the season and will travel to Madisonville to take on the Miners at 6:30 p.m. today.
