Our Heat Advisory continues for the region as a whole as heat index values are expected to linger in the low 100’s all the way into the weekend.
While the temperatures will be the mid-90’s for most of the region, it’s going to feel much warmer, with heat index values of 100 to 107 degrees possible in some areas. While some pop-up rain showers and thunderstorms could offer some relief, those will be widely scattered, so most folks won’t get a break from the heatwave until Friday night.
The National Weather Service in Paducah warns that prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity could cause heat illness, and those chances only rise for each day you spend in the heat with no breaks.
SO, drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room as much as possible, and put on that sunscreen when you go out.
