Police arrest Hopkinsville man for dog abuse

Hopkinsville Police arrested 29-year-old Gemel Charlos Tribble of Hopkinsville after he reportedly assaulted his dog on Thursday.

Officers responded to Tribble’s residence after animal control was contacted and received a video allegedly showing Tribble abusing his dog for around 15 to 20 minutes. According to a report, Tribble punched the dog repeatedly, beat it with a bat, appeared to choke it and slam it on the ground.

While talking with officers, Tribble reportedly admitted to the abuse and said he felt justified because the dog destroyed something that he thought was more important than the dog’s life.

Tribble was charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and torture of a dog or cat. The dog was taken to the Christian County Animal Shelter.
