Heat Advisory in effect starting Saturday

There is now a Heat Advisory in effect for the entire region, including Christian, Todd and Trigg counties, from Saturday through Thursday as heat index values will touch the 100’s.

The extended heatwave will bring a combination of temperatures in the 90’s and humidity that will have a greater impact on people than normal, so people are urged to stay hydrated—in fact, bring more water than you’ll think you’ll need.  Limit time outdoors and make sure you’re taking frequent breaks in air conditioning if you must work outside.

Starting Saturday, temperatures will climb into the 90’s, but heat index values could be between 100 and 108 degrees at times.

Make sure to protect yourself from the sun by wearing sunscreen and staying in shade as much as possible, and keep aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion, such as thirst, dizziness, heavy sweating, nausea and weakness, and get out of the heat immediately before it becomes the more dangerous heat stroke.
