The Western Kentucky State Fair officially gets underway on Friday—but if you’re looking to experience the fair a little quieter, a new event called Quiet Midway is taking place tonight.
Quiet Midway is for those individuals, kids or adults, who need a sensory friendly time with the Western Kentucky State Fair that is without all the loud sounds and bright lights. It’ll take place Thursday night, June 19, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
But if you want all the bells and whistles, lights and cheers, then everything officially kicks off Friday when gates open at 5 p.m. Fair Board Chair Kent Boyd says it’ll be a full night of events, with carnival rides, live music, and a new show in the grandstands this year with the Draft Horse and Pony Pulls.
He says the Draft Horse and Pony Pulls will have a good-sized competitive group, and people can come watch the power of these animals.
The Country Twang Band will play host to Western Dance Night in the air-conditioned convention center, and rides will open at 6 p.m. with a $25 armband night.
The cost to get into the fair remains $3 at the gate, while children under the age of two years old get in for free. The fair continues all the way through June 28, with the return of all your favorites, from tractor pulls to the demolition derby, to Faith and Family Night and all the good fair food.
