Murray State, Arkansas look to stave off elimination from MCWS today

The Murray State Racers will look to stave off elimination today as they take on No. 3-ranked Arkansas in an elimination game from Omaha.

Murray fell 6-4 to UCLA on Saturday afternoon despite a 3-for-5 game from leadoff batter and Madisonville native Jonathan Hogart.

Arkansas fell to LSU 4-1 on Saturday night.

The Racers enter today’s 1 p.m. game with a 44-16 record and are looking for their first-ever victory over Arkansas. The Hogs lead the all-time series 7-0.

Arkansas enters today’s game with a 48-14 record.

Today’s game will air on ESPN.

The second game today features LSU against UCLA at 6 p.m. in a winner’s bracket game.

Meanwhile, the Louisville baseball team staved off elimination on Sunday.  The Cardinals scored six runs in the eighth inning to secure an 8-3 with over Arizona.  Zion Rose had a game-high three RBIs, including a go-ahead two-run single as part of the rally.  Tucker Biven tossed four scoreless innings to earn the win.  Louisville will play another elimination game Tuesday against Oregon State. 

 In the nightcap Sunday, Coastal Carolina beat Oregon State 6-2.
