Regional Murray State Campus Director Shannon Slate talked about how they support local students pursuing four-year college degrees and careers at Tuesday’s Hopkinsville Rotary Club meeting.
Slate was named the director of the Murray State campuses in Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell in February. She is on a mission to revitalize the regional campus and become more involved in the community while helping students prepare for the workforce through higher education.
For local students pursuing a four-year degree, Slate says they have partnered with Hopkinsville Community College to offer the Two Plus Two Program. Students can attend HCC for two years and then transfer to the regional campus to finish their degrees.
Slate says they also support the Christian County Public School System. Next year, Racer Academy will launch and the program will offer dual credit courses for high school students.
To learn more about the programs available, Slate is inviting the community to an open house at the regional campus on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Attendees will have the chance to meet with advisors from the business, education, integrated studies and social work programs.
