HPD: Man reportedly physically, sexually assaulted woman at gunpoint

A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges after he reportedly kidnapped a woman and physically and sexually attacked her.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, officers responded to calls for help from an adult female victim, who told officers that 27-year-old Deonte Walker-Coleman had become physically aggressive to her during a verbal argument in a vehicle.

He allegedly physically assaulted her, strangling her to the point she lost consciousness. When she awoke, Coleman forced her to perform sexual acts while actively pointing a gun to her head.

The victim was ultimately forced to jump from a moving vehicle to escape, where she was finally able to call for help.  Officers were able to see visible injuries to her neck and the victim had difficulty breathing due to those injuries.

Coleman was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree strangulation, kidnapping of an adult and theft by unlawful taking.
