After their location on North Drive was impacted by floodwaters in April, the folks at Camo Caravan picked up what could be salvaged and are taking the restaurant downtown.
Camo Caravan, co-owned by military veterans Jason Coy and Eric Hardin, opened in Hopkinsville in 2022. Since then, the restaurant has become known for its burgers, sandwiches, nachos and much more.
In early April, much of western Kentucky was impacted by historic rainfall amounts, which led to major flooding. Camo Caravan was in one of those flood zones, and Coy says the original building requires many renovations to be operational again. While they could have let the restaurant die, Coy says they instead saw the devastation as a chance to move downtown.
Camo Caravan is moving into 1016 South Main St., where the Hopkinsville Bourbon Society was. Coy says work is currently underway to install a kitchen.
In the meantime, folks can still enjoy some Camo Caravan eats. Coy says they have been attending pop-up events and grilling on the patio connected to their new location. By August or September, the restaurant’s new location should be open.
Coy says the community’s love of the Camo Caravan and support during their relocation is the only reason they have been able to persevere following April’s flood. He says the restaurant belongs to the community, and he doesn’t want to take it away.
