Guthrie man facing numerous charges following traffic stop in Christian Co.

A Guthrie man is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop that turned into a foot pursuit Monday night on Hugh Hunter Road in Christian County. 

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy who was patrolling in the area of Hugh Hunter Road observed a vehicle make an improper turn, and a traffic stop was conducted. 

Contact was made with the driver, 48-year-old Michael Mimms of Guthrie, who was allegedly showing signs of impairment—a field sobriety test was conducted, where Mimms reportedly fled on foot. During the brief foot pursuit, he allegedly tried to discard a container into some nearby grass.

A taser was deployed and he was taken into custody. The container was located and reportedly held two baggies of suspected cocaine.

Mimms is charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrested, DUI, tampering with physical evidence and several traffic violations.
