The Clarksville Police Department is investigating after a dog and its owner were shot in an incident on Tobacco Road Saturday morning.
According to a news release, officers responded to Ascension St. Thomas, where a victim had taken themselves for treatment after being shot. The victim reported to officers that at their residence on Tobacco Road that morning, they heard gunshots come from the area of the roadway.
That’s when their dog ran into the home and they discovered the dog had a gunshot wound. The victim and his wife reportedly attempted to find the individual responsible, and made contact with 30-year-old Roland Reeves walking down the road.
When they asked if he was the one who shot the dog, he allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the male victim in the back and leg.
Officers responding to the scene made contact with the suspect, who was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The victim was flown to a Nashville hospital for treatment, where he is listed in stable condition. The dog is also in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
