The Kentucky Community and Technical College System has handed out awards with the return of its annual conference that was held earlier in May, and it includes some local names.
Also known as the New Horizons Conference, the conference focusing on how educators, staff and community leaders can lead through change will supporting students and strengthen Kentucky’s workforce.
KCTCS hands out Champions Awards, and one of those went to Representative Jason Petrie of Todd County, recognizing him for his support of community and technical colleges in Kentucky.
That’s not all—they also recognized faculty and staff from across the state with the Excellence Awards. Those awards celebrate exceptional teaching and academic leadership, and also honored staff who contribute to student success behind the scenes.
From Hopkinsville Community College, Diane Thomas was presented with the Faculty Excellence Award while Marissa Greathouse received the Excellence Award for Staff.
At Madisonville Community College, the Excellence Awards went to Jeff Bidwell and Colin Magee, and at the West Kentucky Community and Technical College, they went to Britton Shurley and Jessica West.
