Chamber announces Dr. Eugene Poole as annual dinner keynote speaker

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce announced that Hopkinsville native Dr. Eugene Poole Jr. will be the keynote speaker for its 136th Annual Dinner.

Poole serves as deputy chief administrative officer for the Architect of the U.S. Capitol and is a graduate of Hopkinsville Community College and the University of Kentucky. In his role, Poole has helped design military construction projects and supervises operations at federal landmarks.

According to the chamber, he is also a visual artist. In April, Louisville Public Media spotlighted Poole for large quilts he made displaying Black jockeys from the Kentucky Derby.

Along with a speech from Poole, the dinner will include awards commemorating community members for their contributions.

The chamber’s annual dinner is set for 5 p.m. on June 17 at the Bruce Convention Center and the theme is “Kentucky Home-Grown.” Those interested in attending can register at christiancountychamber.com.
