Heritage Christian Academy’s Stephen Whitecotton ran into a buzz-saw in his first round match Tuesday morning at the Kentucky High School State Tennis Tournament.
The Warriors’ eighth-grader faced No. 10 seed Nathanial Hill, of Corbin, in the first round. Hill advanced to the round of 32 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Whitecotton.
Due to weather, the match was moved to the Lexington Tennis Club.
Whitecotton, whose high school season ended with the loss, is the only HCA tennis player to advance to the KHSAA State Tennis Tournament.
