FEMA assistance available for some counties affected by May tornadoes

Some federal assistance has been approved for areas affected by tornadoes in mid-May, and individuals are encouraged to apply for assistance through FEMA.

According to a news release, every homeowner or renter who suffered damage or loss during the severe weather events can apply for assistance with serious needs, such as paying for a temporary place to live, home repairs, rental assistance, replacement of personal property such as appliances, childcare, moving or storage expenses or other needs not covered by insurance.

Counties included in the assistance are Caldwell, Trigg, Union, Laurel, Pulaski and Russell counties.

You can apply by going online to DisasterAssistance.gov, or give FEMA a call at 800-621-3362.
