Governor Andy Beshear recently signed an executive order removing the fees and some requirements for Kentuckians who need duplicate I.D. cards, driver’s licenses, car registrations and titles following recent severe weather.
The order applies to residents in Christian, Todd, Trigg, Caldwell, Union, Laurel, Pulaski, Russell and any other counties that were included in a presidential major disaster area declaration after April’s flooding or recent tornadoes.
The order temporarily suspends parts of three Kentucky Revised Statutes that require fees for the duplication or renewal of license and vehicle documents. Folks can receive duplicate licenses at any driver licensing regional office and they can receive duplicate vehicle registrations and titles at their county clerk’s office.
Beshear says there are Kentuckians hurting right now and the last thing they need them to worry about is having basic living essentials. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Jim Gray says the order ensures people are not burdened by costs or paperwork while navigating the fallout from recent natural disasters.
