Local grand jury issues indictments for wanton endangerment, fleeing

A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments on Friday for crimes connected to a reported shooting and multiple fleeing incidents.

Eighteen-year-old Demontae Burse and 19-year-old Jwon Thomas both of Hopkinsville were indicted in connection to a shooting incident that occurred on February 9. According to a report, the pair were outside of a residence on Denzil Drive when a person shot toward them and they returned fire.

Burse and Thomas were indicted on four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and Burse was additionally charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon. In relation to the shooting, 19-year-old Solomon Burgess of Hopkinsville was charged with first-degree assault after he reportedly shot a person with a rifle.

Twenty-four-year-old Donovan Ball of Woodlawn and 23-year-old Jordyn Purcell of Clarksville were both indicted on multiple charges after they reportedly led law enforcement on a pursuit on April 22.

Ball and Purcell were indicted for first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, disregarding a stop sign and speeding. Ball was additionally charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

Twenty-one-year-old Cody Dexter of Clarksville was indicted on multiple charges after he reportedly led law enforcement on a motorcycle pursuit on March 30. He was indicted for first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, improper passing and speeding.
