Oak Grove hosts 18th annual Spring into Summer Festival

To kick off Memorial Day weekend, Oak Grove hosted day one of its 18th annual Spring into Summer Salutes Fort Campbell Festival on Saturday.

Day one of the festival included carnival rides, Otter Adventure shows, a vendor market and live music. Oak Grove Tourism Executive Director Traci Cunningham says they had a steady crowd coming in all day after a bit of a slow start because of rain chances.

Cunnigham says it takes a lot of work and people to bring the festival to life, but is happy to do and it and is amazed that the festival has been an Oak Grove staple for nearly two decades.

Brantley Gilbert took to the stage to perform at 7 p.m. but before that parachuters floated from the sky with the American flag and flag honoring service members who were wounded in combat.

Then Cunningham along with Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver and Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight welcomed attendees. Cunningham recognized May as Military Appreciation Month and thanked active-duty and retired military for their service.

To conclude day one, a drone show illuminated the sky. After the festival continued at noon on Sunday, it was later canceled due to the weather.
