UHA draws Union, Colonels get Hendo in Region 2 baseball tournament

The dates and times for the Region 2 Baseball Tournament were set in an online meeting Thursday morning, but all eyes are on the skies for next week.

The tournament is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Lyon County’s Lee S. Jones Park, although rain is in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday.

In the top portion of the bracket, District 7 champion Madisonville-North Hopkins (20-11) will take on District 5 runner-up Trigg County (12-11) at 10 a.m. University Heights Academy (18-10), the District 8 champion, will play District 6 runner-up Union County (14-17) at 1 p.m. The Blazers and Braves did not play during the regular season.

In the bottom portion of the bracket, Christian County (15-14), the District 8 runner-up, will play District 6 champion Henderson County (10-15) at 4 p.m. The Colonels and Henderson have played once this season and Henderson won 8-5. The last game of the day features District 5 champion and tournament favorite Lyon County (18-7) taking on District 7 runner-up Caldwell County (19-6) at 7 p.m.

The semifinals will be played at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and the championship is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Tickets for the tournament will be $12.
