Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is gearing up for the opening of Bluegrass Splash for the season, and they’re welcoming a new program director at the same time.
Jacob Gibson has worked with the department for some time in several different roles, but now he’s picking up the role of program coordinator, and just in time for the summer to get into full swing.
On Saturday, Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center will open for the season, with Superintendent Toby Hudson says they’ll be open everyday through the summer, and then when school starts back up locally, they’ll be open on the weekends.
Hudson says you can go online to bluegrasssplash.com and rent hours for birthday parties or other occasions, where you can also get tickets or season passes.
Then, Squealin’ on Square returns for its seventh year on June 6 at Founders Square in downtown Hopkinsville, where teams will be judged on three BBQ categories, and then a reigning champ will be named for both bragging rights and prize money.
Gibson says they’re still looking for teams with only a few spots left open, so reach out to Parks and Recreation now if you think you’ve got the best BBQ.
After that, Parks and Recreation will be moving into a very busy summer and fall schedule, so make sure you stay up to date on upcoming events on the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
