Heritage Christian Academy is bidding farewell and good luck with pride, as their graduating class of 2025 walked across the stage at the James E. Bruce Convention Center Thursday night.
There were 32 seniors graduating from HCA this year, with five students—Ella Cornelius, Ava Craig, Macy Henderson, Madison Warren and Callie White receiving awards for Academic Excellence, as they sported 4.0 GPAs or even higher, while also completely dual credit college courses or AP classes.
Three students were named Warrior of the Year, for displaying Christian character not just while in school, but in the community as a whole. Those students are Cherrilyn Gibson, Macy Henderson and Jason Leek.
Clara Gilbert is retiring from HCA after a long career teaching numerous upper-level math classes, including college algebra, AP Statistics and pre-calculus, and she was the commencement speaker. She urged the graduates to never lose sight of their goals and to not let the world bring them down as they go on to make it a better place.
The valedictorian for the class of 2025 is Mya Goodwin and the salutatorian is Kailyn Johnson, and all together, the graduates earned $573,596, which is an average of almost $18,000 per senior.
