Conditions lead to difficulty in ongoing search for missing 12-year-old in Clarksville

Clarksville Fire Rescue has made the difficult decision to suspend on-water recovery operations in the ongoing search for a 12-year-old boy who went missing in the Red River on Sunday.

According to a news release, weather conditions, rapidly rising water levels and strong currents lead to the decision to redirect efforts from the water to bank patrols—when conditions allow, water patrols will resume with available resources.

Search and recovery efforts are not stopping, agencies will be just be focusing on efforts out of the water until conditions improve, which will be reassessed each morning. Plans are expected to expand downstream, widening the search area.

Billy Dunlop Park and Robert Clark Park will remain closed indefinitely as the search continues.

Eight agencies have taken part in this search, along with numerous local kayakers and businesses.

The 12-year-old was last seen in the Red River on Sunday, and his father called for help when he was suddenly gone.
