One thing you can always count on in the spring is the Christian County Lady Colonels in the District 8 Softball Tournament championship game.
On Monday, the Lady Colonels, who have never missed a fast-pitch district tournament championship game, used a perfect game from sophomore pitcher Jordan Turner and a pair of home runs by Avery Adcock to eliminate Heritage Christian Academy 16-0 in three innings at UHA.
Turner struck out all nine batters she faced.
Meanwhile, Adcock, a University of Missouri signee, feasted on HCA pitching. The senior blasted a home run to open the bottom of the first inning as Christian County plated six runs in the opening frame.
In the second inning, Christian County plated 10 more runs using nine hits an HCA error. Jazzy Tejada and Adcock homered in the inning and Chloe Almy had a pair of doubles in the frame.
Alondra Rodriguez went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI for Christian County (21-13). Almy also finished 3-for-3 on the day. Talyn Ezell produced a double for the Lady Colonels.
Christian County advances to play UHA in the championship game tonight at 7. The two teams did not play in the regular season as the Lady Blazers were forced to forfeit against the Lady Colonels.
