It’s been an up-and-down high school baseball season for the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors. But on Monday night, this group of Warriors made school history with its first District 8 Baseball Tournament win, a 10-0 upset of Fort Campbell at Christian County’s Colonel Field.
HCA was winless in District 8 games this season, falling twice to the Falcons. At the midpoint of the year, the team also lost its head coach.
But the team rebounded to win the KCAC State Tournament last month and on Monday added another notch to the season’s belt.
Ethan Miles struck out 11 batters and Collin Outland went 2-for-3 with three RBI at the plate to lead the Warriors against the Falcons.
HCA struck for five runs in the first inning using three walks and a Fort Campbell error. The Warriors pushed their lead to 8-0 in the second frame and tacked on solo runs in the third and fourth.
Fort Campbell, which ended its season at 3-19, managed only three hits off Miles, who went the distance for the Warriors (8-16).
Caden Outland had a double as part of the Warriors’ seven-hit attack.
The victory sent HCA into the District 8 Baseball Tournament semifinals against Christian County in the second game on Monday night.
