The Christian County Colonels made short work of Heritage Christian Academy 16-0 in three innings Monday night and moved into the District 8 Baseball Tournament championship game at University Heights Academy.
The Colonels (15-13) scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first and chased HCA starter Aaron Hensley. Christian County sent 14 players to the plate in the frame. Blake Boehman had three RBI with a double and sacrifice fly in the inning.
Gage Montes also had a big night for Christian County as he went 2-for-2 with a double and single and drove in a pair of runs.
Thad Toliver also had a double for Christian County.
Meanwhile, the Colonels’ pitcher, Drew Fincham, allowed only a third-inning single to HCA’s Jayden Nichols. Fincham picked up the pitching win, striking out three and walking one.
HCA used several pitchers in the game, but Hensley suffered the loss. The freshman induced two outs in the first four batters he faced. However, a pair of Warriors errors and two walks helped the Colonels score 10 in the first.
Christian County moves on to play UHA at 6 p.m. today in the district championship game at Chris Simmons Field. The Colonels swept the Blazers during the regular season.
