A seven-run fourth inning helped host Apollo defeat Hopkinsville 12-1 in a five inning baseball game Thursday night.
Apollo led 2-1 entering the critical frame, but used four hits, a walk, and three hit batters to take a 9-1 lead heading into the fifth inning. The Eagles ended the game in the fifth inning with three more runs.
The Tigers got their only run in the third inning as Griffin Meacham, who had singled and moved to second on an error, scored on a single by Gavin Powell.
Gavin Mitchell led the Tigers at the plate with two hits. Hoptown slips to 12-13 on the season and is scheduled to play at Calloway County tonight.
