Aiden Jones had a monster game, going 4-for-4 and driving in eight runs to lead host University Heights Academy to an 18-0, five-inning District 8 baseball win over Heritage Christian Academy.
UHA, which improved to 15-9 and 5-2 in District 8, secured the No. 2 spot in next week’s District 8 baseball tournament. HCA slipped to 0-8 in the district and 7-16 overall.
The Blazers wasted little time on Tuesday jumping out to a 10-0 lead after three innings. It was 12-0 after four and UHA added six runs in the top of the fifth.
Courtland Gibson went 3-for-4 and Jackson Flynn went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs to lead the Blazers’ 12-hit attack.
Gibson also picked up the pitching win, striking out nine and only allowing three hits over four innings.
Caden Hale had a double to lead the Warriors at the plate.
University Heights Academy and Fort Campbell will resume their District 8 baseball game at 5:30 p.m. today on Post.
The game was halted by rain in the top of the third inning on Monday. UHA had bases loaded with one out and led the Falcons 1-0 at the time of stoppage.
Meanwhile, HCA is scheduled to play its final game of the regular season Friday at home against Hopkins County Central.
