One arrested after allegedly driving into crowd on Broad Street, sending one to the hospital

A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly drove into a group of people at a party on Broad Street Friday night, sending one person to a Nashville hospital.

According to a report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, 46-year-old Mark Ware of Hopkinsville is in custody after he allegedly backed the vehicle, he was driving into a parked car on Broad Street just after 11 p.m. Friday. After hitting the parked vehicle, he allegedly accelerated quickly from the roadway and into a field, where multiple people were sitting under a tent.

A female victim was struck, and then became pinned under the vehicle, sustaining series physical injuries. She was still pinned when officers arrived on scene—she would be flown to a Nashville hospital for treatment.   

Ware reportedly tried to flee the scene but was stopped by others at the scene.

He was taken into custody and charges with first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree mischief, leaving the scene of an accident with failure to render aid, and several traffic violations.
