The Area 1 Championship track meet at Henderson County usually is a good indicator of how teams and individuals will do at the upcoming region meets.
If that’s the case, Christian County’s Symeria Brown and Satona Bailey should be in contention for gold medals.
Brown won the girls’ 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.37 and she also took silver in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.50 seconds.
The Lady Colonels’ 200-meter relay team of Brown, Aaliyah Bell, Jazmyn Rodriguez and Kaliyah Leavell finished third in 1:54.78. The Lady Colonels’ 100-meter relay team of Rodriguez, Leavell, Kanaijai Stewart, and Kascidy Quarles finished seventh in 56.51 seconds.
Lilly Collins earned a point for the Lady Colonels by taking eighth in the 1,600-meter run in 7:21.52.
Calloway County won the girls’ team title with 202 points followed by Ballard Memorial (57.5), and Hopkinsville (56). Christian County took ninth with 27 points.
In the boys’ meet, Bailey won the 100-meter dash in 11.06 seconds and also claimed the 200-meter dash in 23.13 seconds.
The Colonels’ relay teams all finished seventh in their respective races. The 100-meter team of Levar Daniel, Paul Grace, Harris, and Reeves finished in 46.26 seconds. The 200-meter relay team of Bailey, Grace, Daniell, and Harris finished in 1:36.86, and the 800-meter team of Max Ray, Reeves, Coates, and Cayden Cline crossed the finish line in 9:09.80.
Fort Campbell won the boys’ meet with 99 points, followed by Henderson County (77), and Caldwell County (72).
Christian County finished ninth with 41 points.
