Tigers, Colonels set for District 8 showdown tonight

It won’t just be for bragging rights tonight when the Hopkinsville Tigers meet Christian County in a District 8 baseball game at Colonel Field. The top seed in the district tournament will be on the line.

If Christian County wins tonight, the Colonels (13-10) will finish the season at the top seed at 7-1 in the league standings. However, a Tigers’ win would likely force a three-way tie for first place in the district standings between Hoptown, Christian County, and University Heights Academy. The Blazers still have two district games left next week against Fort Campbell and Heritage Christian Academy.

Christian County coach Cole Isom his team doesn’t need any extra motivation.

The Tigers (12-10, 5-2) defeated the Colonels 6-2 in their first matchup of the year. Hoptown coach Malcolm Tipler knows the games don’t get much more important than tonight’s showdown.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. today with airtime set for 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
