Caldwell scores late, holds off Christian County

Caldwell County and Christian County got caught in a pitcher’s duel Monday afternoon until the homestanding Tigers were able to push a run across the plate in the bottom of the sixth and secure a 2-1 baseball win over the Colonels.

Ari Wells allowed only two hits for Caldwell County.

One of those was a solo home run by Blake Boehman in the top of the fourth inning that tied the game 1-1.

The only other Colonels’ hit on the day came from Aiden Lewis.

The Tigers, who took a 1-0 led in the bottom of the second, scored the winning run using a pair of singles and an error.

Christian County’s Nolan Young suffered the pitching loss, despite striking out five and walking only two in six innings.

The Colonels (13-11) are off until Friday when they will play host to Hopkinsville in a key District 8 game at Colonel Field.
