City of Madisonville to dedicate Mahr Park Arboretum sign Wednesday

The City of Madisonville and the Mahr Park Charitable Trust are pleased to announce the completion of the state-of-the-art entry sign at Mahr Park Arboretum in Madisonville.

The new sign, prominently placed at the main entrance, serves as a warm welcome and enhances visibility, reflecting the ongoing commitment to beautification and honoring the Mahrs’ lasting legacy. A dedication commemorating the entrance sign will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

The Mahr Park Charitable Trust fully funded the entrance sign. Dr. Merle and Glema Mahr established Mahr Park Charitable Trust to support their vision that a park be built on their farm, and in 2016, the park officially opened.

Mayor Kevin Cotton says, “We dedicate this sign not just to mark a place, but to honor a legacy, the vision and generosity of Dr. Merle and Glema Mahr, whose gift of this land has enriched our community for generations. Mahr Park is a living testament to their love for nature, commitment to public service, and belief in creating spaces where we can grow together. Thank you to the Mahr Charitable Trust for your support of this project.”
