The Hopkinsville Tigers scored all seven of their runs in the bottom of the first inning and Gavin Mitchell tossed a three-hit shutout as Hoptown blanked Madisonville-North Hopkins 7-0 Thursday in a high school baseball game.
The Tigers (11-8), who celebrated Senior Night before the game, scored the runs on five hits, two walks, a hit batter, and a Madisonville error. The biggest hits in the inning were a double by Chase Fort and a two-run single by Jackson Guier.
The outburst would be all that Mitchell would need.
The sophomore right-hander was dominant most of the game, allowing no hits after the second inning. Mitchell struck out six and only walked two.
Hopkinsville had six hits in the game, led by Dylan Sweeney and Jayden Kellum, with two hits each.
The Tigers are scheduled to play at Marshall County on Saturday.
