Hopkinsville Police arrested 50-year-old Robert Bibbs of Hopkinsville on Wednesday after he reportedly assaulted a victim and stole their phone on Tuesday.
The incident started at the Hucks Gas Station on East 9th Street when Bibbs reportedly took the victim’s phone and threw it in a nearby field. As the victim went to retrieve the phone, Bibbs allegedly pushed them to the ground before taking the phone again and leaving the scene.
Later, the victim made contact with Bibbs to get their phone back which led to a physical altercation. Bibbs allegedly hit the victim in the mouth with a handgun resulted in injuries to the victim’s lips and chipped tooth.
Bibbs was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault.
