New opportunities are emerging after the opening of a state-of-the-art law enforcement training facility named in honor of Deputy Jody Cash in Richmond.
Cash was a well-known deputy serving at the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office who lost his life in the line of duty in May 2022 in Marshall County. Cash began his career as a deputy sheriff for the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office in 1999.
Governor Andy Beshear honored Cash’s work during a ribbon-cutting for the facility on April 28. Beshear was joined by members of Cash’s family, the Kentucky law enforcement community and the Department of Criminal Justice Training.
During the event, Wayne Cash, father of the late Jody Cash, honored the future recruits who will go on to serve in his son’s memory. He expressed hope that the training they receive at the facility will help them do their jobs safely and efficiently, so they can return to their families each day.
The Beshear administration broke ground on the facility in July 2023 and the area is now home to a 42,794-square-foot facility with a 50-yard, 30-lane firing range designed to provide officers with intensive and specialized training to enhance public safety for all of Kentucky.
