Hopkinsville Police arrested 23-year-old William Hoskins of Owensboro after he reportedly stole a vehicle and fled from law enforcement on Monday.
Officers responded to a location on North Main Street for a report of a vehicle theft in progress. According to the caller, Hoskins stole their company car from a parking lot and fled the scene.
Officers then found the car heading south on Madisonville Road and initiated a pursuit. Hoskins reportedly fled west on to Highway 1682, reaching speeds just over 100 mph and driving on the opposite side of the road.
Continuing down the highway, Hoskins started slowing down, so an officer performed a box-in maneuver on the car. This led to Hoskins driving off the roadway where he came to a stop
Hoskins was charged with theft by unlawful taking, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, third-degree assault of a police officer and speeding.
