75th Rotary Auction officially gets underway tonight

Starting Monday evening, the War Memorial Building in Hopkinsville will be filled with the sounds of auctioneering, the smells of a full diner and the spirit of raising money for a good cause as the 75th Rotary Radio Auction gets underway.

While the live auction itself gets underway at 6 p.m. the diner will open for dinner starting at 5 p.m. where you can go grab any numbers of food items, from pulled pork to hamburgers, chicken to pizza, with specials starting on Tuesday with jambalaya.

As for the auction, Auction Chair Landan Stallons says they’re very excited for their auction items this year, and gave a small sample of the 41 Big Board items, which include exclusive tickets to a University of Kentucky basketball game, a $1,000 gift card to Ashley Furniture, a $1,500 gift card for a Lake Barkley cabin and boat rental and much more.

Stallons did remind that the auction will function a little differently this year, clarifying that the auction items that are online through Bolinger Real Estate can be bid on online only throughout the week. Everything happening in the live auction will need either a phone call or for someone to bid in person for the bid to be counted.

There are numerous ways to listen to the auction—you can go in person to the War Memorial Building of course, or you can listen live on WHOP on 98.7 Lite FM, watch on the Rotary of Hopkinsville YouTube page or watch on Spectrum Channel 376.

Brandon Killebrew was a previous auction chair and says it’s truly something special to watch how the community comes together to support the Rotary Scholars program and the students it benefits.

If you don’t want to bid in the auction, there are other ways to donate to the cause—you can donate to the Hour Club, where $189 equals one hour of tuition at Hopkinsville Community College, or to the historic Goat Club.

The 75th Rotary Radio Auction will start Monday night and last through Saturday night, so there will be plenty of chances to take part, and for more information, visit the Hopkinsville Rotary Club on Facebook.
